Line of Action

IPA Pakistan is to ensure the IP owners, practitioner & professional stakeholders' participation in policy and legal framework development for effective and robust IP systems in Pakistan.

National IP Survey

One of the prime initiatives of IPA is to conduct the first national IP survey which will help us to identify the current IP situation in Pakistan. This survey will be a means of familiarizing the market with evident numbers, about IP awareness, knowledge and orientation in Pakistan. The survey will be conducted through a hybrid of qualitative and quantitative analysis. Also, the survey will be carried out in various segments for the sake of authentication and documentation process. These sectors will be inclusive of academia, corporate sector including small, medium and large enterprises, and policy makers and the government sector organizations. Once the survey is completed, IPA management will be in a better position to devise focus-oriented policies for long-term, mid-term and long-term strategies, that rectify problems, enhance business efficiency and ensure IP security at all levels.

National IP Survey
IP Directory

IP Directory

After the compilation of the National IP Survey, IPAP will publish the first IP Directory in Pakistan which will reflect the genuine IP owners, and their registered IP entities in Pakistan. Directory will include useful information about the local, national and multinational individuals and organizations, who have any sort of IP ownership in Pakistan. This will facilitate the business men for decision making process and support general knowledge in the industry and remove any ambiguities regarding the work already done and help provide information on who owns what in Pakistan.

IP Security Council

An IP Security Council will also be set up, whose primary purpose would be to provide legal and media support to those organizations or individuals whose IP rights have been in any form violated. Last but not the least, one of the major highlights will also include the induction of IP Awards, which will take place annually. These awards will honor and appreciate those local Pakistani brands who have the strongest IP signs. The purpose of nominating local Pakistan brands for the awards is to promote, encourage and highlight the Pakistani brands, one of the main purposes of IPAP. Due to the lack of adequate IP law enforcement, IPAP considers it to be a dire need to develop an Anti-Counterfeit Agency. It will work to help enforce and protect IP laws.

Besides the above-mentioned activities, IPA will also be carrying out, on a regular basis, chamber associations, seminars and conferences and workshops, to provide constant and iterated assistance to all those who seek to be updated with the changing IPR trends.

As far as the competition is concerned, there are legal organizations that work towards assisting organizations and individuals in getting registered and fighting for filed cases of IP violations. Besides this no organizations currently operate in the capacity and area of work that IPA envisions undertaking.

IP Investigation Network

IPAP will also develop the Intellectual Property Investigation Network. In its initial state of establishing IPIN, IPAP will hire final year students from the best public and private universities as "Member IPIN Network". A team of IP experts of IPAP will visit the universities and colleges. It will be followed by a detailed presentation for students on various topics related with "Intellectual Property" trademarks, copyrights & patents and also national and international IP laws. Students will be graded for their aptitude and comprehension of the presentation and laws and suitable students will be offered IPIN membership and they will be required to perform in their designated area of industries. All such recruited students will be provided with IPIN membership card and a fixed stipend initially and for training & development of the hired students training courses based on technical and legal programs will be conducted periodically. Such programs will be followed by comprehensive tests and successful candidates will be promoted to the next level along with rewards and recognitions.

IP School

IP Academy will also be one of the major initiatives. This will involve multiple collaborations with the private sector to form an individual academy dedicated to IP studies. This academy will offer courses for professionals who want to join the field of IPR or those professionals who want to further enhance their skills in the field. Either way, IP Academy will provide specialized training to these professionals. The academy will be affiliated with a foreign university which provides expertise in the field of study.

The membership of this club will be ordered IP owners may they be young professionals, established organizations or creative individuals. The primary purpose of this club would be forming a group where an aura of constant and consistent encouragement is formed to help encourage IP owners to continuously innovate and invent different products, services and ideas.
